white diamonds for your white wedding

Monday, March 31st, 2008

With wedding season right around the corner diamonds are on the minds of both single and hitched gals. Because what better way to add sparkle and glitter to your wedding day than with diamonds? After all, these precious gems are a girl’s best friend.

Abazias Diamond Pendant

When choosing diamond jewelry for your wedding, Abazias Diamonds recommends designs that complement the style of your bridal gown. Considering a strapless gown or a plunging neckline? Long diamond earrings paired with an Abazias’ Diamond Pendant will show off that glowing décolleté of yours, while adding a bit of elegance.

Abazias White Gold Diamond Bangle Bracelet

For those brides planning to wear their hair down, you’ll want to skip flashy earrings since your hair will likely hide them. Instead, grace those wrists with diamond-rich bracelets, like the White Gold Diamond Bangle Bracelet from Abazias Diamonds. And don’t forget about that wedding band. Super-sparkly diamonds add to the glitter of your special day. For hats with veils, diamond pins add a graceful, modern touch.

Abazias Diamond Engagement Ring

You’ll also want to consider the ceremony when shopping for rings. Traditional white weddings are synonymous with diamonds. But if you want silver tones in your wedding pictures, opt for an engagement ring with a platinum band and setting to give it a contemporary feel.

I Love Sample Sales Online

If you loathe standing in line for hours, detest wrangling and clawing your fellow sisters, and have a tendency to crack when you’re forced to emit a screeching battle cry for fantastic threads, it’s time to embrace your inner technology diva.

I Love Sample Sales has just launched an online sample sale boutique. Yup. You can now steal the best bargain in the comfort of your cozies right from your home office. Not only will you beat the crowds, you’ll also find a bevy of sizes, because unlike most sample sales I Love Sample Sales also carries overstock. This month they are featuring Diesel jeans with sizing starting at 24. All stock is discounted 60-70% off. Because they’re a Canadian outfit, U.S. shipping rates will be slightly higher. So if you’re in Canada, you’re golden.

I Love Sample Sales Online

You’ll find a fairly full range of sizes, from 24-30, and they hope to maintain this in the future. On occasion, they will offer one-of-a-kind samples, usually sized small to medium. New stock is generally available monthly, but it could rise or fall based on demand.

And, as you may know, I Love Sample Sales is also the place to keep up on all sample sales. Click on their event calendar for the info. And be sure to get on their mailing list for updates in your city. Angelenos can sign up here.

la made

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

I recently treated myself to LAmade – my first such venture. And I’m totally, absolutely sold. I love the designs, the selection (tops, dresses, skirts, tunics, and tanks) and the fact that every last piece is ultra flattering. I also noticed that the busts are cut smaller. And hey, you gotta love that everything is made in LA!

LAmade Top

LAmade is a broad collection of knit basics with a twist. Designed in a range of soft fabrics and a rainbow of hues, these easy-to-wear garments are the ultimate everyday pieces. Not to mention the ultimate everyday price point. LAmade is a mecca of everyday wear that doesn’t bore, and doesn’t hurt your pocket book. Plus, they’re petite friendly.

LAmade Dress

I bought this dress in XS (my new summer staple), and it fits perfectly in all the right places.

LAmade Top

LAmade collections can be found in trend-conscious boutiques as well as major department stores across the nation, including Bloomingdales and Anthropologie. In LA, you’ll find LAmade at Beige and Madison, and online at Revolve Clothing, myShape and National Jean Company.

blue notch jeans: ‘08 fall & winter preview

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Our friends at Blue Notch unveiled a sexy 2008 Autumn/Winter collection on March 12th at the Prince George Gallery in NYC. To mark the event, the gallery was turned into an underground, lounge-inspired showroom, where private appointments offered an exclusive glimpse at the new assortment for the season ahead.

Blue Notch Jeans

Everything was so incredibly sexy. And by sexy, I mean lambskin leggings, graphic tees, woven tops, leather jackets and casual bombers. And much, much more.

Blue Notch Jeans

In denim, holistic charcoal washes and skinny silhouettes caught my attention, but they did so with a twist of leather details or buttons along the side. (And they run a bit small, so size up just in case.)

Blue Notch Jeans

New outerwear designs feature lightweight materials with a focus on layers – duck down-filled parkas are a perfect example.

Model preview, great fashion, open bar, hip NY folks. A fun event, indeed.

Blue Notch Jeans

For those outside LA or NYC, I’ll help find Blue Notch jeans near you. Just shoot me a comment or email with your location.

shorts

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Stylish shorts can prove a real issue for the petite gal. Either they’re too short or too matronly, or they feature a price tag over $100. In my usual fashion, I’ve headed out into the field to research the best shorts out there. The kind that is urban without sporting your buns to the world, and affordable without looking cheap.

petite maternity

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

It’s tough being a fashionable pregnant gal, particularly if you’re a petite. And most of the women I know are fed up with the selections in the maternity sections of Old Navy and Gap – not to mention those at Motherhood Maternity.

Because you gals deserve one less thing to worry about, I’ve done a bit of digging to find a few designers that are beautifying petite, trend-conscious mamasitas.

In general, you’ll find a good selection of petite-minded maternity wear at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Saks. (Be sure to stay on top of the sales, though.) Also try eBay – I’ve found a decent selection of P-sized designer maternity apparel there as well.

Juicy Couture Maternity V-Neck Dress
Juicy Couture Maternity V-Neck Stripe Dress | XS | $210

Juicy Couture
The Juicy girls think of everything. So, of course they have stylish and comfortable maternity wear. Here, you’ll find dresses, casual tops, loungewear, denim, and more.

I’m a big fan of Milly, and I’m thrilled they offer maternity sizes. They also carry cute dresses that fall above the knee.

T-Bags
I spotted a super fashionable petite woman on Melrose in a T-Bags dress this weekend. The T-Bags maternity dresses and tops will beautify that baby bump. Plus, their designs resemble all that’s offered in their current line, but with a bit of stretch in all the right areas.

Juicy Couture Maternity Terry Dress
Juicy Couture Maternity Terry Dress | S | $118

Due Maternity
In addition to the S, M, and L sizes, Due Maternity also allows you to submit your sizing to a store specialist for custom sizing. Simply select “Need Another Size” while ordering online, or call their 800-number for immediate assistance. You’ll also find T-Bags and Juicy Couture here.

petite bloggers: spring purchases

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I had the chance to catch up with a few petite bloggers on what they’ve been purchasing for spring this week.

bebe Petite Wrap Dress

Christa Jean at Petite Fashionista

My most recent purchase was a pink wrap dress from Bebe. I’m a huge fan of wrap & shirt dress styles and this dress combines the details of both. This dress embodies the features that will flatter almost any petite frame. This will be my go-to dress to feel comfortable and look pulled together.

Plus you can make it look sexy depending on how you accessorize. For example, for a date you can wear it as shown or for a more demure look, try a basic cami underneath, pull your hair into a low ponytail, simple shoes and voila–insta chic!

Forever 21 Natasha Tunic

Christina at Shorty Pantz

I simply adore is this cute little dress by Forever 21 in my new favorite neutral for spring - grey! It’s sold as a tunic top, but is the perfect length for a petite dress. The ruching on the bust adds curves where I want them, and the empire cut creates a narrow-looking waist. For a night out, I slip on the dress, accessorize with a long, beaded necklace, throw on some silver flats, and I’m ready to go!

I’m an 8P. The dress size I bought was a medium and I purchased it at Forever 21 in West Edmonton Mall. It’s wash and wear!

Gelaskins

Ma Petite Chou

My most recent purchase is an accessory for my laptop. I bought three really cute laptop skins from www.gelaskins.com. It’s a site that sells artist-designed laptop and iPod skins. I think they’re really cool. Styles range from anime style, abstract art and classic paintings. If your readers are looking to dress up their gadgets this is the place!

Cristi Conaway Top

serafina

I purchased a Cristi Conaway top at the Beige super sale. Its absolutely gorgeous. It pairs well with everything in my closet and all of my jewelry. And the XS fits perfect in the arm, bust and hip.

Seven For All Mankind Petite Jeans

Cynthia at Shorty Stories

I just got a pair of Seven For All Mankind Flip Flop jeans from Muskat Brown. The waist size is 24 in a petite length, and the inseam is approximately 30”. They’re excellent and I don’t have to hem them!
